The NOAA Marine Debris Program is part of NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration and has the mission of investigating and solving the problems that stem from marine debris in order to protect and conserve the nation's marine environment, natural resources, industries, economy, and people.

The USGS Coastal and Marine Geology Program (Woods Hole, MA) has the mission of studying coastal and ocean resources from shorelines and estuaries to the continental shelf and deep sea, providing expertise, tools, products, and data that address and inform a broad array of resource challenges facing the nation.
