Sonar Data

Rapid survey response in the aftermath of a storm event is essential in determining the degree of damage caused, and to assist in clearing channels to ports so that they may be used to stage recovery operations (and to allow the ports to reopen commercially). The procedures used to conduct these surveys are not necessarily the same as those that would be used in normal survey practice, and it may be beneficial to use a particular mix of survey instruments to achieve better performance. Similarly, the processing techniques used in response situations may be different from conventional methods. We are therefore conducting research into how to choose the right instruments for response surveys, how to process the data that they generate, and how to ensure that features of interest (e.g., marine debris) are appropriately preserved during using processing methods.

Research on this topic is on-going; data products will be listed here when they become available.
